Files and Folders
On the Files and Folders section, you can define the settings for file synchronisation. In file synchronisation, the contents of a PC folder are synchronised with the contents of a folder on your phone. The folders can contain, for example, Microsoft Word documents or Excel spreadsheets. You can edit the files either on your phone or on a PC, and they will be updated during the next synchronisation.
Note:
The Files and Folders section is not available if your phone model does not support the synchronising of files.
Select location on PC
Here you can select the PC folder that you want to synchronise. The default name of the PC folder is Briefcase, but you can change it. To change the folder, click Browse… and browse for the desired folder.
Select location on the phone
Here you can select the location of the phone folder. It can be located on a memory card, in the phone memory or in mass memory. The phone folder is named Briefcase, and you cannot rename it.
Only synchronise files smaller than
If you want to set a size limit for files to be synchronised, select the Only synchronise files smaller than checkbox, and select the desired maximum size from the drop-down list.
Note:
If you delete a file from the Briefcase folder on your phone, it is not deleted from the PC during the next synchronisation. Instead, it is moved into the Briefcase/Deleted files folder on the PC.
Troubleshooting file synchronisation
If problems occur while defining the settings for file synchronisation or during file synchronisation, a warning is displayed.
See the table below for more information on possible problems and for instructions on how to proceed.
Description of the problem |
Instructions on how to proceed |
The size of the PC folder is too large for the memory capacity of your phone, or vice versa. |
Modify the settings for file synchronisation by changing the location of the phone folder or the PC folder. Then try again. |
A large amount of data (over 10 MB) is to be synchronised. |
Continue with file synchronisation if you are prepared to wait although the synchronisation may take a while. Alternatively, you can modify the settings by defining a size limit for files to be synchronised. |
