Bluetooth pairing

If you are connecting your Nokia phone to the PC using Bluetooth wireless technology for the first time, you need to pair the devices using Nokia PC Suite’s Get Connected wizard. Pairing means that you code two Bluetooth devices to communicate so they can exchange data.

Bluetooth wireless technology uses two different methods of pairing:

  • A method where you enter a passcode on your phone.

  • A method where you compare the passcodes displayed on your phone and PC.

To pair your phone and PC, follow either instructions A or B explained below.

Note:

When pairing the two devices, follow the instructions both on the PC screen and on the phone’s display.

To pair your phone and PC

  1. Pairing requires that you enter a passcode on your phone.

  1. Enter a passcode:

    • Use the passcode generated by Get Connected:

First, press Next in Get Connected and then enter the passcode on your phone when the phone’s display prompts you to do this.

OR

  • Create your own passcode (1-16 characters, numeric):

First, enter the passcode on the PC and enter the same passcode on your phone when the phone’s display prompts you to do this.

In both cases, the passcode is used only once and you do not need to memorise it.

  1. Authorise the connection between your Nokia phone and your PC. Select Yes when the connection request appears on the phone’s display.

  1. Pairing requires that you compare the passcodes displayed on your phone and PC.

  1. Compare the two passcodes that are displayed on the PC and on your phone to ensure the passcodes are identical.

  2. If the passcodes match, confirm pairing on your phone. If the passcodes do not match, reject pairing on your phone. You can then try pairing your phone and PC again.

Note:

You can set your PC as authorised, which means that individual connections between your phone and your PC do not need a separate authorisation. Find the Paired devices view on your phone, select your PC, and edit the PC to be authorised or trusted, depending on the term used in your phone.
